With 22 brands and sales in excess of $1 billion, PepsiCo Inc. is a multinational food and beverage corporation that manufactures, markets and distributes grain-based snack foods, beverages and other products worldwide.
E2 provides the company with strategic direction and solution design recommendations for automating environmental information management across its entire enterprise, including separate business units such as Quaker, Tropicana, Gatorade, Frito Lay, and PepsiCo International.
PepsiCo’s environmental data systems varied widely throughout the organization and included spreadsheets, stand-alone custom databases (MS Access, Lotus Notes, etc.), mainframe systems, document management systems, and other commercial applications. Through a series of workshops, E2 determined the areas where PepsiCo could get the most value from automation and the requirements for implementation. We then conducted a Keep/Modify/Retire (KMR) review of legacy applications across the business units as well as an evaluation of the commercial marketplace. Based on this assessment, we developed a short list of vendors for consideration and guided the software demonstration and final selection process. Working closely with PepsiCo IT, E2 developed initial detailed implementation, resource responsibility/staffing, and module phasing plans and, later, E2 helped implement applications for water, waste, greenhouse gas (GHG) and chemical tracking.
